International languages

Languages that are used globally, in greater or lesser degree, for diplomacy and business, are generally known as international languages.

The languages that have a higher international status are English, French, Spanish and Arabic. Also is Russian in the area of the former Soviet Union. The Portuguese also can be considered, in a lesser degree, because of its former colonies. Sometimes Chinese is also included in this group, due to its large volume of speakers and its rising influence, especially in Asia.
